Western Estonian unique nature and multitude of bird species bring us visitors interested in nature from far and near. At Matsalu National Park and Silma Nature Reserve, well known to birdwatchers, there is a lot to discover also for those interested in flora. On the border of Matsalu National Park one can find accommodation and catering at Altmõisa Guest House. This region’s hiking trails, birdwatching towers and wooded meadows offer a lot worth seeing for both beginners and people with deep knowledge of nature. |  | | There are seven birdwatching towers in the national park: Keemu, Haeska, Suitsu, Penijõe, Kloostri and Jugassaare; observation platforms are at Kiideva, Puise and Rannajõe. |  | | From the corner of Altmõisa Guest House, a broadwalk meanders through marshy meadow and canebrake, leading to the little tower at Luigeranna. A walk to the sea and back takes only an hour, unless you won’t forget yourself watching the swans or sunset! |  | | From Kiideva village, 5 km away from us, a hiking trail goes to Puise. A six-kilometre trail can be passed most conveniently on foot. To get more extreme experience, you can rent a mountain bike from us and order a boating trip over the bay. |  | At Cape Puise where the sea is open for the view from both sides, one can order smoked fish and wholesome soup. If you wish, we can provide a picnic basket or hot food and drinks thermoses. |  | If you are here for the first time or want instructing while getting acquainted with nature, our experienced and competent nature guide will join you on your walking tour. |  | After the trip, you can share experiences in front of the fireplace in the hall while looking at the pictures taken during the day. You can also relax in the sauna or continue observing nature on our terrace. The migration birds’ route passes over the thatched roof of Altmõisa Guest House. |  |
